It was &#8216;lost&#8217; when this site had to be re-booted from scratch. The Patriot criticised this \u2018dishonest game,\u2019 which of course meant the grocer was raking in money by sharing content that others had created.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper companies, who had all the outlay involved in staff wages and production costs, would have seen their income fall drastically.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to today, when internet giants have all but destroyed local newspapers by effectively doing the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriot points out it had paid its stamp to the government, and in return had protection and could legally punish those persons who thus trade upon our labours and outlay\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>If only that had applied in this millennium.<\/p>\n<h2>A few recent howlers<\/h2>\n<p>I have loads of these:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2018Officers smelt cannabis and B&#8212;&#8212;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>produced a bag hidden in his boxer shorts.\u00a0\u00a0A further search revealed 11 more bags and measuring scales.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>\u2018&#8230;he spent weeks in bed, learning how to walk again\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>(former orchestra member) \u2019David now works in an office, playing the trombone occasionally\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>WI reports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2018At the last meeting, Mrs N&#8212;&#8211; bought along her beautiful collection of underwear and told us the history of the garments.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>\u2018&#8230;the choir sang Forever and Ever.
